KCI The Anti-Meth Site
Lending Library

**The Lending Library is Discontinued**

This project was started in the fall of 2006 and had great success. The five months the Lending Library was functioning, we successfully loaned out DVD's to 18 individual schools/organizations. We received back all the DVD's in a timely manner with two exceptions: (1) one being damaged because of a large scratch; and (2) abuse of the privilege from an individual.

The borrower who damaged the DVD is forgiven because the borrower asked to replace or pay for the DVD. The non-return of two DVD's is a different issue.

We emailed three (3) times and sent a letter by postal mail to Emily asking for return of DVD's and have received no reply or response. We feel betrayed and can not afford to replace these DVD's at this time. Here is the email Emily sent.

I am employed by the State of Utah and work at a shelter for children ages 12-18. I currently co-facilitate a group on addictive behaviors for the youth in the shelter and any youth in the community that are in need of general education on addictive behaviors. I found your web-site when I was looking on the internet for information on methamphetamine and was wondering if you would be willing to let us borrow two DVD's, The Meth Epidemic; and Dying for Meth.
If this would be possible please let me know.
Our address is 2660 Lincoln Avenue, Ogden, Utah 84401.
Thank you so much, Emily Helquist.

We replied to Emily ("Emily Helquist" <ehelquist@utah.gov>) before sending the DVD's for more information about her employer and received the following:

Thank you for responding to my e-mail. The facility is named Archway Youth Service Center, the address is 2660 Lincoln Avenue Ogden, Utah 84401. Our business phone number is 801-778-6500. Feel free to call or e-mail if you have any questions at all. Thank you so much, Emily Helquist

So, out of the seven (7) DVD's available, we are now down to four. At this time, we still believe in the inherent good of individuals. However, a re-thinking of how to provide this lending library service is needed. Maybe an Internet service with a credit card hold like when checking into a hotel is available. Not sure right now. Any suggestions is very much appreciated. Please send your suggestions to: kcimeth@yahoo.com

PS:  If you know Emily, or come in contact with her, would you be kind enough and ask her to return the meth DVD's? Thanks!!!
