Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
If
you are going to quit meth once and for all, do you have to stop
ALL drugs?
Before I ever used meth I was a pothead. I'm still a damn
pothead. I looooove weed. It keeps me sane. I try to always
smoke it when I get spun so I'm more myself and not so edgey.
[like I have been the last 4 meth-sober days
I want to stop doing meth but I don't want to stop smoking weed.
Everyone I know likes me when I don't take my meds and just
smoke some weed. Weed is my sanity lol...
So, what do ya think? Oh, and please don't yell/lecture at me
about weed. I hear it from my daddy alllll the time. He knows I
stil l smoke weed.

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
NA
says yes, some say no, whatever works for you.
Now, any 'hard' drug, I would say yes, but again that is just
me. I have been clean for a few weeks now, and I have had a few
drinks, and even a glass of mushroom tea.
The way I see it, if you are healthy, and happy, you are doing
something right. You know yourself better than anyone, I am sure
you already know the answer, at least where you are concerned. |

If
you choose to keep smoking weed, I would suggest you come up
with a plan and some coping tools to use when you see your
dealer to get weed. When you have "business" with someone you
know can get you meth... just say the word and it's yours.... it
becomes increasingly hard not to fall off the wagon. |

HI
It looks like to me you are changing one habit for another.
I go to NA and AA and neither one supports this. A drug is a
durg is a drug. Be careful thinking this way.

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
Everyone is different, some quit everything, some don't.
I quit because I need my precious energy and pot takes it
away from me,which is one of my reasons for using meth,... ...to
be more energetic.
..........it also gives me anxiety sometimes.
....I have friends that are just fine doing one and not the
other.
If you don't belive it can be done, don't interupt those who are
doing it.
I always say.
be very honest with yourself and figure out if it really helps
or not. |

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
Shelly it would seem to me that your just giving up one drug for
another and not dealing with the reasons why you feel you have
to do drugs. At least thats what I think but am not a counselor
so I really don't know whats right. Anyway Im glad to hear that
your not doing meth its so bad. You take care and bless you Hon. |

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
I
was like that in the beginning. I quit meth in November of 2003,
and continued to smoke weed for the next 3 months. I finally
decided that I wanted to be CLEAN, period.
I like having a clear head. I am working the NA program which
suggests complete abstinence from ALL drugs, and I am glad that
it does. I am an addict and I can make anything into a problem -
I was smoking so much weed I spent 3 months laying on the couch
doing NOTHING but eating.
For me, I prefer to be clean, but you gotta work your own
program. |

Yea many people do that with meth
and heroin to take the tweak off the meth and the jump out of
their legs from the heroin it is also called the zip. Opium is
your true addiction (It diseased your mind to into needing it)
Good Luck. |

weed
gave me panick attacks when I sped,
........so I had to quit weed while I was using,
then I quit speed and I did'nt want my energy to dwindle,
so I stayed a non-stoner this time.
I think that came with age,
.........I just had enough of all of it. |

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
I think like someone else said.... its really a personal
decision. You know if you can smoke weed and be okay. I know I
can't. If I smoke weed Im only doing it because I want to be
high... and I dont like the high weed gives me so I just end up
wanting to use meth. Different people are different though.
I dont believe that continuing to use weed is switching one drug
for another. At least not any more than drinking coffee after
you quit using meth is switching caffiene for meth. I drink
coffe.. Im addicted to caffiene... but Im not going to end up in
jail or prison over it. Im not going to lose my car over it...
and Im not going to rob a coffe shop for a latte... so for now I
think I have that addiction in check.

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
I
don't smoke weed, so I may have no reason to comment on this,
but I just have to say...weed is illegal, and you can sit in
jail for it, so if it's worth taking that chance, then I guess
it's okay. Sure would be sad to get off meth then be busted for
weed, huh? Bummer. |

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
Shelly, pot makes me lethargic and apathetic, the very two
conditions that led me to use meth. The learning process and
short term memory are severly affected, motivation and zeal for
our dreams and goals falls by the wayside. Pot smoke analysis
has revealed over 400 OTHER chemicals aside from the
cannabinoids that are psycho-active, including a dozen known
carcinogens, and to say that it's harmless is incorrect. Humans
have used hemp for over 10,000 years that we know of but usually
not the way we do, we abuse it like every other drug we use. To
concur with Loraura, the pot dealer nowadays is also qutie often
the meth dealer, not a place for you to be if you're going to
stay off meth. Quitting all drugs is not a bad idea at all, I
think we owe it to ourselves to live life with a clear head, at
least long enough to get a feel for what it's like, say 30 days
or so. I strongly recommend this to anyone, meth addicted or
not, after all, we are designed with over 50 neuro-tranmitter
chemicals on board, yet we still think we can do better. The
arcitecht of life must stand in utter amazement as we keep
pouring drugs and alcohol into ourselves thinking we can better
ourselves by doing so. This addict has tried every altered state
out there, the only one left is "UN" and it's feeling great, a
CLEAR head is my concept of "high" nowdays.....try it...... you

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
quitting all drugs.... would that extreme also mean that you
quit the other things in your life that might be legal, but are
equally, if not MORE harmful to your body?? alcohol KILLS brain
cells... while as weed swells them... lol.. i'll say this, you
never see two potheads get rip roaring mad at each other and
threaten murder and be unreasonable to the point of endangering
other ppl....
quitting everything at once will be (in my experience) be more
likely to cause a relapse... enjoy the weed, if it helps keep
you away from the meth... so what...
you might have really crappy short term memory-but you'll never
have glaucoma either...
but as said previously... get it from somone who only stocks the
green-you'll wind up hittin it again otherwise. |

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
I know someone who was addicted ot
Oxycontin and then Heroin. He's rehabed a couple of times and
now that he smokes pot only, he's stayed clean from the Opiates.
His parents, whom I know very well, aren't real happy that he's
smoking pot, but it's the lesser of two evils. He's able to keep
and has a great job and is doing well for himself now.
He's 20 I believe. |

Re: Smoke pot and quit meth? Question about meth sobriety...
Make a plan that will work for you and stick with it. In my
opinion as a mom i wish you would quit all drugs this minute but
as a person who has learned more than she ever thought she would
about drugs i would say if you feel that quitting one drug at a
time is what will work for you then stop meth first. Meth, in my
opinion is much more destructive. Maybe when you get off meth
you will be ready for the next step and quit weed. But most
importantly (imo) make a plan to get off meth however you can do
it.
Good luck to you |
