Face sores, picking the face, meth use
Where does the picking the face fit in with
Meth use? My ex has supposedly quit and is seeing a psyche. When
he came to see the kids he had a couple of big sores and some
small ones on his face. I also noticed that when he came out of
the bathroom he'd been picking at his face cuz it was all
welted. I'm thinking this is a big sign that he hasn't quit. The
sores on the face and obsessive picking in the mirror I though
was a tell tail sign. Anyone got any words of wisdom for me? |

I know when my daughter used she would get
those face sores too and on other places too. Hugs Bobbie |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
Ya know ... I know he's using but I always
want to give him the benefit of the doubt and end up second
guessing myself. It's crazy... does the manipulation never end? |

This is so him... how blasted dumb do I have to be to get it
through my thick skull that he's still using!?! Just because I
don't physically see him do it and he says he's not I buy it
everytime hook line and sinker. I have 2 beautiful small
children that don't need to grow up around this Shyt... when
will I learn? |

Can anyone tell me at what point of the high
they would pick at their face? Does this mean they are tweaking? |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
My husband began picking his face in the last
few months of use.
I wouldn't say he used heavy - at that time, the most he ever
bought was a half gram.
he would smoke a bit in the morning- a little more after lunch,
then maybe again when he was home to finish off the foil.
Then he was done.
No all nighters, no disappearing for days- worked every day
,home every night.
No rages, no seeing shyt, very seldom wired for sound.
But he picked his chin, he picked any acne on his face.
When I used all those years ago, I snorted a gram a week -and
never not once ever picked.
It just varies from person to person.
Some do, some don't. |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
Time for change,
My husband has always "picked" his face . It does not matter if
he is using or not. However there is a difference. When he was
using, he would be in the bathroom in front of the mirror for 45
minutes " picking zits" almost daily. When he is not using, he
messes with his face but, it is like everynce in a while and for
a couple of minutes. |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
Not as much because he doesn't get the sores
like he did.
He used to get like boils under his skin. Just hard knots that
really didn't have a head. He would just dig at them- one of the
cheek sometimes but mostly around his mouth area and chin.
My husband has never had a nice complexion- it is a ruddy
one.His skin has never been clear and smooth- just not boils.
He doesn't get the hard knots anymore.
Time4change, the best way I know to see if hubby is using or not
is the simplest of things put him on the defensive.
It is an attitude change.
Happy happy - on cloud nine- or as I said he gets defensive.
When he isn't using and I ask him about something that is
bothering me-
like for instance, why his using buddy is calling him, then it
is no biggie for him to tell me.
he just tells me well he wanted to know this- I am okay.
When he is using then comes Well I guess you think I am using
again don't you?
When Hubby is clean, since he has been more time clean this past
year than use, it shows. It shows in little things- just the way
he talks to me and to the kids, he is so relaxed these days. Not
happy happy unless there is a reason - like we just found a huge
piece of copper or when J saw his bike for Christmas- he can
laugh at a joke- and it just shows.
The hugs are back when I am cooking in the kitchen- just little
things that you can't put into words.
This all comes after the withdrawal , after the meth.
It takes time but when you see it come back, you know.
And when there is use after that, it shows- it sticks out like a
neon sign.
Because you have seen all those little things you can't put into
words.
Now I tell you Time4change, the first 90 days my husband was
coming off of meth, I saw more signs of use than I did when he
was using- night sweats, leg jerks, I even smelled it on him
where I never had before.
He was dead emotionally for a long time. No joy, no nothing.
It was unnerving.
Give it time- believe what you see, not what you hear.
Write it down, keep a journal- BIG HELP for me.
Even with children who are addicts,I think this is a help.
and don't forget to Breathe. Just breathe.
Take it one day at a time- Just for today I will make me the
best I can be.
That is all you can do. |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
My exboyfriend never got face sores.
However he did get and pick at sores from the back of his knees
to his butt cheeks.
I was shocked the first time I saw them, it looked like very
deep chicken pox maybe boils.
He hid them for some time I imagine.
They were pretty bad.
I often wondered if it had something to do with the amount or
perhaps the puriety. |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
Step-daughter picks her face...she tries to
keep it around the hairline though...but warning...those sores
on the face can easily get staph infection because of their
location. Step-daughter has been in the hospital several times
with it...her staph is hard to treat though and with each
outbreak it will be harder. |

Re: Face sores, picking the face, meth use
The sores will continue even after use
because toxins are still exiting the body. If one stays clean,
it'll eventually clear up.
My kid now has just plain old teen acne. Looks not as infected
if you know what I mean. |
