Physical Damage of Crystal Meth

Articles and Information about Children and Babies on Crystal Meth and Methamphetamine

Meth's Sexual Effect Explains Addictions
Crystal Meth eventually destroys the sex drive, but for a short while it can boost sexual appetite and performance more powerfully than drugs such as cocaine, doctors say.

Psychological and Physical Problems of Meth
"All addictive drugs have two things in common. They produce an initial pleasurable effect, followed by a rebound unpleasant effect. An amphetamine, through its stimulant effects, produces a positive feeling, but when it wears off it leaves a person with the opposite feelings. This is because of the suppression by the drug of the normal production of adrenaline."

Anatomy of a Meth UserLong Term Effects of Methamphetamine
Long-term heavy use of amphetamines may lead to malnutrition, skin disorders, ulcers and diseases resulting from vitamin deficiencies. Regular use may contribute to lack of sleep and weight loss.

Long-term Consequences of Drug Exposure During Development
The incidence of infants exposed to drugs of abuse prior to birth has increased greatly over the past 15 years, primarily due to an increase in the use of stimulant drugs such as cocaine ("crack") and methamphetamine ("crystal meth", "crank", "ice") by pregnant women. Exposure to these drugs is thought to affect normal brain maturation and the infants' behavioral development.
