Permanent effect of Meth on My Body
I
went to the doctor yesterday for my chronic rash I've had since
using. I had always assumed that it was a direct result of my
using meth.
Well, not DIRECTLY, but indirectly. According to my MD, the meth
caused my immune system to break down and changed the makeup of
my skin, making me prone to skin infections. The bacteria get
down into my pores/hair follicles and cause nasty, scar-causing
sores. AND THEY ITCH LIKE MAD! I'm not tweakin anymore, but I
still find myself scratching at some of them. I've even
scratched in my sleep, so hard that I BRUISE.
So now I am on heavy-duty antibiotics and very strong itch
cream, possibly for life.
Yeah, another reason not to do this stupid drug.

It's
bad enough to look like a meth head when you are one, absolutely
horrific when you're not.
It only stands to reason you'd like the outside to match the
inside changes
Tina, I don't know if you have tried it or not, but I found
baking soda baths, cornstarch baths to be very soothing.
I found this out when all my kids had chicken pox- and it worked
wonders for me when I had skin rashes.
May be worth a try in addition to the antibiotics and medical
treatment.
I sure hope so.
You could also try wearing gloves to bed- it worked on my babies

Re: Permanent effect of Meth on My Body
Wow...
That sounds like something I had going on a few months ago.
I was itching like mad. Then.. Id scratch to the point that
yeah, it would bruise... then within like 12 hours it would be
healed enough it would itch again.
And yeah.. it was so bad I would scratch in my sleep.
At the time I just figured it was cause I had scratched enough
that the skin trying to heal was why it itched...
Oh. and I'm kinda having the same thing again.
I found the best thing for it was to sleep fully clothed so I
wouldnt scratch in my sleep and resist scratching as much as
possible, it went away on its own for the most part.
Though like I said. I'd getting it again some this past week or
so though it hasnt gotton bad as before.

Re: Permanent effect of Meth on My Body
Please take care! And when it
scabs, neosporin and bandaids.
My brother had folliculitis which is what started his staph
which was crazy for nearly a year. His wife and 2 of the 3 kids
have it and my daughter has it as well. It is FINALLY under
control.
Here's another tip. I add a cup of vinegar to EVERY load of
clothes that I wash. Towels get more. I went ONE WEEK without
doing this and my daughter had another outbreak, so I swear by
it now. I also had her bathe in water and vinegar for about 20
mins. Stinky, yes, but helped! |

I've
had everything from hives, rashes, blemishes...
...benadryl did the job.
and I had cysts that hurt like hell that would be inevitably
right where your panties have elasic bands around your legs
...that's L-Lysine, and/or anti biotics.
I thought it was toxins.
......it went away after a couple months. |

Re: Permanent effect of Meth on My Body
Yeah, I got some bad jock itch when I was useing off on with my
ex. Reading this thread I bet it was mostly caused from the meth
use.
Even had it in my armpits,....
I take super lysine+ a dietary supplement for other health
reasons and it works great.
Edited to add,.. Tinactin followed up with simple Vitamin E skin
oils and some other esentral oils cured the jock itch. It was
really bad. I thought I had scabbies. |

Re: Permanent effect of Meth on My Body
Jock
itch is just a common name for a fungus of the skin which
actually can happen anywhere on the body. It's the same fungus
that is responsible for althletes foot and ring worm.
effected areas can include:
body - typical ringworm or tinea corporis
scalp - tinea capitis
feet - athlete's foot or tinea pedis
groin - jock itch or tinea cruris
I don't think meth can CAUSE a fungal infection, but it
certainly can cause a person to forgo hygiene routines that
would prevent it! |

Heh,
I never went to the doc, so I don't really know what I had. I
know what cured it though. But I can say this I shower every
day. And use Body scrubs. Perhaps my S.O. at the time gave the
fungas to me. Then with the stress of being methed up and
itching it spreaded the fungas? She had a fungas in her nails,
Yuck it was bad. She even tried that fungal prescription that is
advitiesed on tv, with those little fungas dudes scratching
under your nails.. Can't think of the name?
She used meth everday, and gave me some of those little b@asterds,
I think her meth use kept her from a cure.
So in my case it could of been caused by meth use, in a round
about way...

Re: Permanent effect of Meth on My Body
Fungus works its way from the inside out and is related to yeast
overgrowth - you know, good bacteria, bad bacteria in the
intestines, etc.
