A condition that I put on my husband for us to get married back in 2004 is that he clean up and get off of drugs and we could start with a clean slate. He promised that he would. He cooked and sold meth before we were married. We had a child together. I had to file bankruptcy and demanded that he go back to his mothers up north and clean up his act before we could have a relationship or get married. He moved up north and came back with significant weight gain and appeared to be clean. So we married in 2004. He had a few relapses in 2004 and I had a fit and threatened divorce. (He would pull all niters staying gone and lying about it.) Now he just says that he's on stackers when his behavior is extremely similar to his behavior when he's on meth. He will stay up late working on house with all this extra energy and excited and happy behavior. He'll talk to this one buddy he had when he was on drugs before on the phone. Then he'll crash and become extremely grumpy if you bother him or try to get him to help with anything around the house. He always says he sick or his back hurts when this happens. He'll come home from work saying he has the flu so he can crash. He will not miss work though. We have a 5 year old daughter together and have now been together for a long time. My gut tells me its not stackers. (Even if it is stackers this behavior is not ok is it?) I just need some support and advice. I think I want out and don't know how to go about doing it.

jacks mom	Re: Can stackers make you stay up all night? I suspect meth If you find a bottle of any kind of diet 'aid' they will still have herbal stimulants in them even if there is no ephedra. I'm not saying your man isn't using meth, but I've taken diet 'aids' with gaurana and green tea and yea....it can make you antsy, and curbs your appetite. YUCK!!! I hate to feel antsy...

How long has he been like this? Also, it's obvious he has a drug addiction. What did he use as recovery tools in the past? Did he just stop using, or did he go through outpatient or inpatient recovery and/or NA meetings? Recovery isn't just stopping use. There are underlying issues that cause him to use, and until those issues are resolved, he will continue to go back to the meth.

I don't think you can purchase stackers with ephedra in the states anymore but I think a person can get them online. You buy them at places like GNC. My husband writes off his behavior as being ok as long as its stackers and not meth. I've yet to see the stacker bottle.

Stackers #1 contains ephedra Stackers 2 & 3 claim to be ephedra free & contain "Caffeine (anhydrous) 250mg". They could keep you up at night if you abuse them I guess. Why is he using them?

I wanted him to go to rehab back in 2003 but he chose instead to clean himself up by going up north and staying with his family for a while. I wasn't there to really know what went on. He came back to me with weight gain. I think he still has a problem with meth in my heart of hearts. What should I do next? Go to alanon or just tell him to get out. He's on a high right now. We just moved into a house.

If he is trying to lose weight...then stackers are not the answer.. Yeah you might lose weight fast BUT as soon as you stop taking them I would imagine that you would gain the weight back and fast. I lost 80 lbs on meth in a few short months...BUT since I am 172 daze clean I have gained back 50... If he is an addict and using Stackers he is headed for a fall if he hasn't fallen already

I suspect meth I think you should go to Alanon or Naranon (if you have a local meeting) and get some peace so you can make some of the decisions you need to. I worked in health food stores for many years and one can be just as addicted to natural speed as meth. Your intuition is probably right. How often do meth addicts admit their use to loved ones?-RARELY. You two are married, ask him to go to an NA meeting with you saying that he had a problem with it before and he could be a great help to those who are still" struggling" with it....since he doesn't have a problem or anything...There are many recovering addicts who go to NA for years and years and really do enjoy being of service to those newbies and often say that those meetings keep them sane and clean even years later. Your husband won't be able to keep hiding his use for long...if he is using again.

Sorry - that isn't stackers. None of them- I have done them all at one time or another. The ephredras, ephedrine/mini thins, caffeine, Ginseng- you name it, if it is sold, I have done it. Happy and excited is a meth only trait. Or something in the speed family at any rate - coke, speed - nothing you can buy over the counter. Stackers will keep you up - but anything but energetic, happy, excited. Try irritable ,cranky, bitchy, awake but a** dragging- that is stackers. How you handle it is up to you. The only one you can change is you. The only one you can fix is you. You did not cause his addiction. You can not cure his addiction. You can not control his addiction. All the love, fit throwing, bitching in the world won't keep him from using if he is set on using. You can not control him - but you sure can put an end to his addiction controlling you.

I suspect meth Sounds like classic meth addict behavior Stackers nor ephedra are "speed", they are mild stimulants incapable of producing the symptoms you described. BS and lies are par for the course, standard procedure in light of the ultimatums you've previously laid down. Faithfully going to work is an open window to use on a daily basis, particularly for addicts with a spouse at home. "up late working...extra energy...excited and happy" followed by > "crash...extremely grumpy...sick...back hurts" And the old using "buddy" is a dead give away. Tip... spring a random drug test on him when he's excited and happy, it's not "stackers" that's going to show up. Or better yet, trust your gut...it's very seldom wrong. Welcome, you'll find the answers you're looking for here, sooner than you think.

imlost inky	Re: Can stackers make you stay up all night? I suspect meth I know - I know {{{HUGS}}} The thing is though as scary as it is, it gets much easier with facing up to the issues at hand. It's like once you get over the initial OMG, i can't breathe feel, you find it isn't as earth shaking as you thought it would be. There are steps you can take that will put back the power of your life into your hands. Where you are not just floundering about, trying to find your footing. You can't fix him - but it does feel mighty damn good fixing you. Once you just take those first steps of Today, just for today, his addiction will not control me. Once you find you again and start living again. You are at the right place for that support. We have been right where you are- that is why we are here. To show you that there is life after meth.

If you you aren't sleeping, it's insomnia and you feel like crap because you can't sleep. You aren't happy to be awake, you are pissed because you can't sleep.

That's why it's strongly suggested an addict have some sort of 'recovery plan' to live by (and there are many out there) once they are meth-free. If my only problem were the meth, it stands to reason that once I quit, I'd be fine! Far from it. The problem is right between my ears. My thinking/attitudes were all screwed up. I still have to work on that on a daily basis. If I don't, I'll eventually go back to using. Make any sense?

I've never heard, known, or looked up, or thought anhydrous could be in caffeine? Is this in all caffeine? Dang if I am not getting scared here.

Ammonia used commercially is called anhydrous ammonia to distinguish it from ammonium hydroxide solution, which is household ammonia. The above is from Wikipedia. Freaked me out a little, too. Glad to know caffeine is still as safe as caffeine can be
