Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover &
vinegar and Meth
This was
my first day on this web-site and my first time time to go into
a chat room.
My son is 19 years old and has been a meth user for almost t two
years. He moved out right at 18. He has crashed at my parents
house for the last two days.
My mother has said he is spending about 6 hours in the bathroom
at a time. She said he came out just wet from sweat. She said he
had black electrical tape, vinegar and fingernail polish remover
in the bathroom with him. He came out with red marks across his
stomach, she thinks from the electrical tape. Can anyone help me
with this? What are those used for? Why so much time in the
bathroom and why so many baths. I thought with meth users
grooming usually declined.
Thanks for your help. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
2 things come to mind- shooting up and porn. Sorry but 6 hours
in the bathroom, that is all I can think it would be.
I have never shot up so I don't know what for what - but I am
sure someone will be along that may |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
I can't say for sure what the tape and the other stuff was for,
but I can say that he was "tweaking" in the bathroom.
That means, he's in there, probably picking at his face,
probably using dope, and engaging in repetitive, unproductive
activity. When you are tweaking, you can lose track of time to
easy, the hours go by and your brain is stuck in a rut that is
hard to break. He's probably in there thinking "I should go
soon, I should go soon, I should leave the bathroom" for all
that time.
Some tweakers get overzealous in their grooming and look very
good. Others become overzealous in other projects and completely
abandon their hygiene.
I am really sorry that your son is an addict. It must be
heartbreaking to have to witness this.
Stick around, this board is a great place for support and there
are a lot of people who can offer you advice and friendship, who
know exactly what you are going through. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
Thank you so much for your response. Not sure about that porn
thing, and I am not asking for an explanation on that one.

Thank you for your response too. Thank you for that warm
welcome. I think I will stick around as I do not know where else
to turn for help. I have made a few calls for help. They
were eager to help my son when he is ready, which I am thankful
but no help for me. This is a crazy roller coaster ride and
sometimes I feel no one around me understands. I have a 10 year
old daughter, and this is all very hard for her too. |

but no help for me
Turtle, have you checked on NarAnon
meetings in your area?
AlATeen for your daughter?
Even though AlAnon and AlaTeen focus mainly on alcohol, it is
still addiction base help for loved ones- non users.
It can still be of benefit for both you and your daughter.
You can not control his addiction, you did not cause his
addiction, you can not cure his addiction BUT Mom, you do have a
say in how much control his addiction has over you.
There are many parents here that are going through this same
thing. Please stick around- there is support here for you.
I am sorry you are here but I am glad you found us. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
turtle,
I'm really sorry to hear you feel there is no help available for
you. I can tell you that you can talk and ask questions here,
and people will give you lots of input, support, and all the
help they can. There are a lot of wonderful people with lots of
wisdom and experience here. People who are/have been addicted
and people who love those addicts. I'm glad you shared. I'm
sorry you are in this difficult situation. I hope you will keep
sharing and hear our stories. I was a user and haven't used any
meth in over 7 years. It took me a little longer to figure out I
needed to quit some other stuff, but eventually I did. I am
learning about recovery every day. It is a journey, and I can be
a pretty slow learner sometimes, and stubborn, but my life is
sure getting better. It is possible to recover. You have all my
best wishes. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
Thank you all. I am going to ask another question. He is very
ill but won't go to a dr. He is throwing up. Is this normal with
meth use. I don't know if it is a stomach bug, or what to watch
for. I know I need to watch for dehydration. I will be going out
to my parents to see him tonight. This is probably the 5th time
I have seen him this year.
Thank you all. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
The bathroom is a den of iniquity used for acting out bizarre
and twisted sexual fantasies.
Pickers spend hours in front of the mirror trying to eradicate
those pesky speed bugs.
A collective HONEST assessment of bathroom behaviors would make
a sailor blush
A 6 hr. taffy pull is par for the course, along with a number of
other un-mentionable hyper-sexual behaviors.
He's likely doing large amounts of meth, dehydrated and
starving, hence the throwing up.
Brace for a shocking visit, the son you once knew...isn't.
Keep coming here, you'll need us. We love you! |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
When it got to the point where I was throwing up violently
(often a brownish crud....) IT wound up leaving me in a coma
even a week after I had stopped using.... Turns out my esophagus
was messed up and my liver was no longer functioning
sufficiently...
I'd get him medical help or take him to an Emergency Room
ASAP... I was in that coma for 1 solid week and barely survived.
Hope you'll keep us posted! |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
lax,
good call.
I was going to mention the liver too.
vomiting is very common in liver illnesses and HepC is very
common in shooters.
Welcome to the board..
Sounds like your son needs to check into a facility and
definitely see a doctor.
The body has a way of healing itself, IF you take care of it.
Drugs will surely deteriorate what's left of him.
Again, Welcome.
Sorry to read about your son. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
Sorry to
hear about your son.
Your son needs help and to see a doctor immediately. The
vomiting could be cause by a variety of things including
internal damage. The stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, and/or
liver are usually affected. If the vomit is brown such as dark
red or dark brown it could be old blood meaning there is a
internal bleed somewhere. He really needs to see a doctor.
Also, on the TV channel there is a show called Intervention,
which goes inside the life of a addict and recovery. At the end
of the show it offers and phone number to call for help.
I too, am new to this website. I lost my sister last year to
meth and murder. I am just now at the point where I can admit
she was addicted and coping with her death.
This website is wonderful... I have done a lot of research on
the effects of meth and making meth, trying understand the
addiction. Never been a user I still don't fully get the high;
however, I have a understanding of what she may been
experiencing the days and minutes before she was killed.
I wish you luck with your son and hope he can get the help he
needs. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
If you are curious how meth is effecting his brain, I wrote up
an article explaining the basics in easy-to-read language (I
think). You can Find
it here. |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
Tamm, I know we'd all be very interested to hear your story if
you were ever willing to share it here. I am very sorry to hear
about your sister.
To the OP: I can't imagine what all of the items you listed are
for but I think it's pretty common for a meth user to disappear
into the bathroom for many hours on end. I wish the best for
your son and keep us posted..... |

Re: Electrical tape, fingernail polish remover vinegar and Meth
Thank you guys for all of your wonderful advice. I know I said I
was new to the website and then disappeared. That is because I
took him to the ER Monday night they admitted him. We got out of
the hospital Thursday afternoon. All of his test results were
ok. They found something on his colon and wanted to check that
out. They basically treated him with antibiotics and told him he
needed rehab. Got him home (my parents house) around 2:30 he was
gone by 8:45 and no one has seen him since.
Laraura- I am definitely going to read that article
Tamm I am so sorry to hear about your sister-sounds like this
website is something we both needed.
I am also going to read that link how a meth addict thinks and
feels. I am looking for a support group as well. This was one of
the roughest weeks I have ever had. |
