What causes meth
psychosis?
Hi there,
My name is Tammy, and my husband is a recovering addict.
He has been clean now for a little over 6 months. It has
been a hard road, and will continue to be for quite some
time.
We were at marriage counseling yesterday, and got into a
discussion about the psychosis he had during his run. I
asked him and the therapist what caused this and she
said that it was just kinda like a bad trip. This really
confused me, and was just wondering if anyone might
could answer my question. What causes psychosis?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I know a lot
of people have lived it. |

That really is so simple. The marriage counselor
couldn't satisfy my answer in an hour, and you did it in
4 words. You are the bomb

lack of sleep causes hallucinations,
and not eating..
...gives you nothing to draw from to make sense of
things.
I had to go longer than 4 words. |

Just to add to that, I think elevated
body temps/ fever contributes to it too. Sometimes I
noticed that when I was really hot (in my un-heated San
Francisco apt), is when the bad thoughts and the
hallucinations would happen.
Fevers in normal people can cause hallucinations if they
are high fevers.
But yeah, Suz basically nailed it on the head!
PS. Glad to hear your husband is now clean! |
