Is there such a thing as an occasional user of meth?

Nice Devil 945	Is there such a thing as an "occasional" user of meth? There are many people who use alcohol only occasionally - at parties, diners, etc. Many people drink alcohol and do not develop dependency, addiction or health concerns. Is there such a thing as an "occasional" user of meth? Does every meth user, sooner or later, become dependent / addicted or are there some people who use it occasionally over a long period of time but do not develop dependency? Is there such a thing as a "safe" amount to use or a "safe" frequency rate of use?

But the effect of meth on the brain is SOOO much stronger than alcohol that there aren't very many casual users. And those casual users are VERY likely to become full blown addicts in the future. I would have to say yes. But that amount would be about 5mg that's a dose that is used to treat narcolepsy and ADD/ADHD in VERY rare cases. (Because even at that amount it's not safe) No there is no safe amount or frequency of use to use this drug recreationally. And 5mg is about 1/100th of what you get in most areas for $40. Nobody uses that small of an amount. Someone who says that they are a casual user, is someone who is either in denial, or they just like playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun.

DSAL O1	Re: Is there such a thing as an "occasional" user of meth? Dear Nice, I have been married to 4 people that have gotten into Meth. I also got into it...but have not used in 18 years. There is no way in this world, that I could ever be conviced, even for a second..that there can be a causual user of METH. I'm sorry..but I for one, will never, ever believe under any circumstances that METH can be compared to alcohol, mj and etc. NO...METH is a separate, distinct animal...METH does not have an allowance in it for "casual use". One may casualy take try the first line...but after the first line.."casual" will soon be over. METH seeks to do a complete work on someone at the first try..even if they did not care for it at first. If METH allowed "casual"...our prison population would be smaller by a long shot.

But I am just trying to be prepared for all the excuses my GF (actually ex GF until she quits) gives me. Until a week ago I knew virtually knowing about it. Now I'm trying to learn all I can
eyes open83	Re: Is there such a thing as an "occasional" user of meth? some people might disagree but YES there are people who use meth occasionally and do not become addicted... i know plenty of people who used meth in binges for a few months and then dont touch it for years and then have another binge for a couple of days and then dont touch it for years... drugs of course are addictive but i think that if a person doesnt have an addictive personality or addict tendency's they can use meth occasionally... so the answer to your question is YES. SOME PEOPLE CAN USE OCCASIONALLY.

The only people I know who use meth occasionally are people who have a different drug of choice (ie, alcohol, cocaine, etc.) So, they will use for a night, or a weekend, feel like @#%$ when they come down, and then focus on what they really like using. So, in essence, the only folks who can use meth occasionally are those who are already addicted to something else, and are always f*cked up anyway. They just don't like meth that much. Still a big problem.

The assumption that these people who say they use occasionally or at will...I call BALONEY! No..it is not because they do not have an "addictive personallity"...it's because it is probably not easy for them to get ahold of...for what ever reason. It is not that they have any control over Meth. To think this is to say to ourselves "We'll, I can have a little..I'll just be smarter about it this time and not let it control me.. I'll be like "So and So" who can have some and not want anymore for a long time."(relapse thinking, dishonest thinking) Meth is way to underestimated...and that my friends is what gives it so much power. Know your opponent (METH), know it well "My people perish for a lack of knowledge"

They just don't like meth that much. That was me. I used Meth occasionally only because it wasn't my drug of choice. That is so keeping it real. LMFAO!!! I don't know one person who uses Meth occasionally unless they fit into the above quote.

NiceDevil, When I first posted here about 3 months ago, my very first post asked the same question....but mine sounded like this...."I'm a user not an abuser"...that was the line my ex gave me! So I came here and asked is there such a thing, well what I learnt from all of these wonderful people was that NO when you use, YOU USE and frequency and amounts have nothing to do with it. Your ex-girlfriend will probably tell you what you want to hear, early on through our break up I journaled many text messages with every addict lie you can think of from my ex. Even now my ex admits that he did have a problem and he was in denial when he was telling me that he wasnt "abusing" the drug and only using. Learn all you can, knowledge is the power.
