Why would addicts use in front of us? We quit using, went through recovery and they knew it!
me and my
hubby have some friends that we used to use with they came to
our wedding and everything (one flew here from AZ). Well
they knew we were clean now and that I was expecting. They were
stopping through the town were we lived and called us and asked
us if they could stop by. We hesitated for a minute and decided
it would be fine cause we knew they wouldn't bring it in or do
it while they were at our house. When they got there they were
so spun that it made us sick, and on top of that they kept going
in the bathroom to do bumps. When they left we were just kind of
in shock we didn't know what to say. But why would people do
this especially to people who were doing well over 1gm a day and
maybe 2 for almost 2 years? |

They were
not thinking about you and your husbands recovery, they were
thinking about that high..... |

They are
active users. They are not going to respect the fact that you
are clean. They are going to keep on using meth and keep on
using anyone and everyone else too. |

I had a so
called friend of mine do the same thing. She knew I had 8 months
clean, and I later found out she was laughing with others saying
wouldn't it be fun to get me spun out....People in active
addiction are selfish people .And misery loves company. I would
say the next time your so called friends show up, show them the
door. |

Why would
they do this.....I think the question is why would you let them
do this to you. If you knew they were doing "bumps" in your
bathroom, in your home and around a pregnant woman then you
should have told them to get the @#%$ out!!! Honey you have to
take care of you and yours first and foremost. No they weren't
thinking about what they were doing all they cared about is
getting high, in fact tweakers do not do any logical thinking.
It obviously bothered you and your hubby to have them there.
Take care of yourself sweetie and don't let people invade your
personal space! |

Re: Why would addicts use in front of us? We quit using, went through recovery and they knew it!
I'm so sorry that happened. I am not too surprised though. To
you they were "all spun", but to them it was just another day.
It's not OK. It's using behavior. But it is a hard lesson to
learn. That's why NA teaches changing our playgrounds, playmates
and playthings. In this case, your old "playmates" or using
buddies, are still living in the world of meth, it would no more
occur to them to respect your clean time and new lifestyle than
it would to try and breathe under water. Of course, we know
(NOW) that it isn't safe to bring meth around pregnant people
(or any people, for that matter), but that doesn't mean I have
never seen pregnant people trying to kick.
I kind of struggle with a few of my old buddies. Some have even
told me they are proud of me for quitting. I just wonder if
that's a kind of desperation talking, like a small part of them
sometimes wishes they would/could quit. On the other hand, I
don't think that sentiment really lasts past the time it took
them to say it. When I was using, my only thought was "where is
my next hit of dope coming from". I genuinely care for some of
the people I left behind. I did hang out with some for a while.
I had a girlfriend try to talk me into using with her more than
once. Mostly, I only see anyone I used with in public places
now, running into them at grocery stores and things. I think
that's the only way that'll work for me. My house is drug and
alcohol free. I guess if I found out someone used in my house,
that'd be their one chance, and they wouldn't be welcome back
until they were clean. I've got to be kind of a hard-ass about
it, because I have an eleven month old baby. (If I were at your
house, I would've probably worked myself into an ex-tweeker-tweeked
out frenzy of cleaning my bathroom) It's not only the baby,
though, it's my sobriety. My recovery, I hope, is strong enough
to keep me from putting something questionable up to my nose,
but I don't need to be finding that stuff or be testing myself
like that.
OK, so the short answer would have been....when you're using,
only drugs matter... |
