Baby after
meth
I was
wondering if anyone here has had or has heard of someone having a
baby after using meth. My S/O is pregnant and her and I were meth
users. Her clean time is 5 months or so. Is there anything to look
out for? She was a light user, and only used for a few years off and
on.

Re: Baby after meth
There
have been many babies born after meth and they are lovely. NO meth
NO problem...at least not a meth induced one. |

Re: Baby after meth
It is
not a meth induced one, we both have been clean for a while. I just
wanted to make sure it was safe, and if it would be like a normal
pregnancy.

Re: Baby after meth
Unless
her previous meth use has damaged her heart, kidneys, liver etc. she
should be fine, and the baby should be fine as long as she doesn't
use while pregnant. |

Re: Baby after meth
If a
pregnant mom uawa mwth while pregnant, the damage to the baby
depends on the developmental stage the baby was in while the mother
was using.

Re: Baby after meth
Hey Pop~
As long as she is not using now while she is pregnant I don't think
you have anything to worry about. Enjoy this with every fiber of
your being as your life is about to change and it's all good.

Re: Baby after meth
I agree
, as long as she is clean now, everything should be fine.
I do caution anyone who is pregnant using anything from over the
counter medications to caffeine, nicotine, and illegal drugs without
consulting their doctor.
My middle son - one of my middles,I have 5 children- is borderline
learning disabled as well as hyper.
I craved coffee and chocolate when I was pregnant with him.The only
one I craved those with.
As an infant, he never slept more than 4-5 hours period. Not until a
teen did he ever sleep. Had learning difficulties as through school-
tested every year for LD, always close to being qualified for
additional help.
I have to wonder if the excessive and I do mean excessive amounts of
caffeine didn't play a part.
The bottom line is you owe it to your unborn child to be as healthy
as possible - to take the best care possible of yourself.Eating
well, taking your vitamins, sleep.Be aware Iron deficiency as well
as eating seafood are dangers to unborn babies. Iron defiencies have
been proven to cause birth defects - the mercury content of seafood
and such is thought to be a cause of Autism.

Re: Baby after meth
I will
tell you about a baby after meth. I'm now a foster mother of two
children the ages of 1 and 3. They both tested positive for meth
when they were born. They have been taken away from their parents
for the second time. I don't think that their parents will get them
back this time. It is sad that they can not be together as a family.
But I'm the one left to deal with their anger, I'm the one they hit
when they go into these rages. I'm the one that gets up with them at
3:30 in the morning because they are having nightmares.
How do you do this to your own children? They deserved to have a
normal life what ever that may be. It angers me to think that anyone
would do drugs while they are pregnant. But I guess that is why
their are people like me to pick up the pieces.

Re: Baby after meth
Sunshine, you ask how can people do that do their kids? I asked the
same question when I was trying to adopt a foster baby and I was
pissed, very pissed. I was holding a baby, wanting so much for him
to be mine, and the Doctor very coldly told me that he might never
be able to even roll over in his crib. I wasn't strong enough and
able enough to care for that little guy - but some other kind soul
did. I did however learn more about ADDICTION - IT TAKES OVER -
PEOPLE ARE SICK. In the case above the mom was repeating history,
her parents never cared for her and were addicts. These stories go
on and on.....I now have that babies brother though...mom died long
ago on the streets at age 25 leaving 5 kids in the foster care
system.
Around March 2004 we brought a young couple into our homes as they
were transitioning from another state, trying to make it in
California. They told us lie after lie and we believed it all at
first. Bottom line there were users of Meth & pot, she had been
slamming it for a long time and has serious health issues at 20
years old. I held her hand in December as the Doctor's told her that
their baby was dead in her belly at 6 months of age. It's just sad.

Re: Baby after meth
Wouldn't
it be nice if this was a perfect world? I realize people do drugs
because they can not handle everyday life but where do we draw the
line?

Re: Baby after meth
I did it
because the drug had control of me. I know I did it but I can not
change it. Try being the one taking care of the after effects of the
drugs knowing you was the one that did it. It is easy easy being the
one that walks in and takes over. Not saying you are wrong, but try
not to judge till you have been there. You know nicatine is a drug
too. Many wopmen smoke too during pregnancy. You know at least I am
honest and not lying about it. I do not like being judged, I am
clean now. That is what matters. I can not change the pst all I can
do is look ahead and deal with the world head faced forward and noth
high on meth or any other illegal drug.

Re: Baby after meth
TxTigger
I'm sorry I really try not to judge. I just get so mad when I see
the after effect on these children. I have tried to help their
parents. But if the parents do not get their life in order then
these children will be adopted out and I do not think the little boy
can take much more. I have raised my kids and did not plan on
raising anymore but there is no way I could allow them to go and be
adopted out with someone they do not even know.
I'm so proud of you for getting clean. I pray that God will watch
over you and keep you safe.

Re: Baby after meth
I am
sure all of us can remember things we have done that we regret.
Things that have hurt others, things that we are ashamed of. You
don't need to abuse drugs to do these things, it is part of living
and learning. I believe most of the time people don't intend to hurt
others - sometimes, yes, but most of the time no. TxTigger you sound
like you have your head in the right place. You are straight and
making good choices in your life. Put the past behind you. It is
important to be your own best friend and forgive yourself. You will
never be able to move on if you don't. Your power is in the NOW, in
this moment.....make the best of it. Enjoy your day everyone. |
